INSTALLATION OF UPS
An uninterruptible power supply, also uninterruptible
power source, UPS or battery/flywheel
backup, is an electrical apparatus that provides
emergency power to a load when the input power source or mains
power fails. A UPS differs from an auxiliary or emergency power system or standby
generator in that it will provide near-instantaneous protection from input power
interruptions, by supplying energy stored in batteries, supercapacitors, or flywheels. The on-battery runtime of most uninterruptible
power sources is relatively short (only a few minutes) but sufficient to start
a standby power source or properly shut down the protected equipment.
PROCEDURE OF INSTALATION
STEP-1:
Unload and Unpack the UPS safely
and carefully
If the UPS is not
immediately installed the following must be remembered:
·
The UPS should
be stored in the original packing and shipping carton.
·
Do not tilt
the UPS cabinet more than 10° from vertical or cabinet may tip over.
·
The
recommended storing temperature is between +15° … 25°. • The equipment must
always be protected from moisture and weather.
STEP-2:
Verify the rating of the
UPS and follow the Instructions mentioned by manufacturer
STEP-3:
Verify the A.C Input required
for UPS
Possible inputs
a. Single Phase
b. Three Phase
STEP-4:
Verify the D.C Voltage
required for UPS
Some available inputs are
a. 12V D.C
b. 24V D.C
c. 240V D.C
No of Batteries is decided
by D.V Voltage of UPS

STEP-5:
Connect the batteries
required in Series and connect it on the D.C input required for UPS.
STEP-6:
Connect the A.C Input
required for the UPS
STEP-7:
Switch ON the A.C input and
follow the instruction manual
NOTE:
When we switch ON the UPS
after few hours / days need to follow this
1. Remove the battery terminal and discharge the
battery with Load
2. Then Switch ON the A.C Input and connect the
D.C Input.
The D.C Voltage of UPS
gives the No .of batteries required for back up of UPS.
