As per IE Rules-1956

HT INSTALLATIONS 

• At a pressure of 1000 V applied between each live conductor and earth for a period of one minute the insulation resistance of HV installations shall be at least 1 Mega ohm or as specified by the Bureau of Indian Standards.

• Medium and Low Voltage Installations- At a pressure of 500 V applied between each live conductor and earth for a period of one minute, the insulation resistance of medium and low voltage installations shall be at least 1 Mega ohm or as specified by the Bureau of Indian Standards] from time to time.

HISTORY OF INDIAN NATIONAL SAFETY DAY

National Safety Day: History

The Ministry of Labour, Government of India set up the National Safety Council of India (NSC) on 4 March, 1966. To develop and sustain the movement on SHE that is focusing on safety, Health and Environment at the national level. Basically, NSC is an autonomous body. Therefore, the foundation day of the National Safety Council was decided to observe as National Safety Day in 1972. It was also decided to celebrate it as National Safety Week (NSW) Campaign that will last for one week.

Let us tell you that in 1962 during the 22nd Labour Minister's Conference a decision was taken in a conference focusing on 'Safety in factories'.
